End of Over No.20 New Zealand Women 151/7 Last Over (15 runs)

That concludes our coverage of this virtual quarter-final. Thanks for joining us, this is Ankur Dhawan signing off

Meg Lanning: Crunch game, we handled it really well. She (Beth Mooney) has been a really good player for a long time, we know her value. Wickets in hand allow you to go hard in the end, and we had two world-class players (Perry and Haynes) at the crease, which made a difference. I guess it took (Perry’s injury) the extra pace option away from us. Haven’t heard anything (about Perry’s injury), it didn’t look great, but hopefully she’s alright. Goes a lot into managing players, unfortunately we’ve had a few injuries. We have full confidence, that Bangladesh game was a turning point. I think we showed that we are able to be calm under the pump, we have done the basics right which gives us confidence going into the semi-final

Sophie Devine: They got a few too many. You can always do things differently, in hindsight, cricket’s an easy game. Wanted to hold Amelia back for the death overs. That last one was close to a no-ball but credit to Australia.

Georgia Wareham in the player of the match: Felt like I had a bit of confidence. I think they are really dangerous players – Devine, Bates and Green – happy to put my hand up. Pretty special to be in the semi-final, job’s not done yet

Australia book themselves a semi-final berth. The margin of victory (4 runs) is a little deceptive, Australia seemed like the likely winners for most part. Martin’s cameo adds a little more respectability to New Zealand’s eventual total but the sluggish start left them too much to do, and none of their big match players really came to the party. Georgia Wareham was brilliant, she bowled the game’s defining spell, picking up the wickets of Bates, Devine and Green to snuff the fight out of the chase.

19.6 6 Gardner to Martin full toss angled across, it looked high but perhaps marginal, she shuffles and swings it away towards deep midwicket where the catch goes down and the ball land on the boundary cushion on the full, but it matters little as New Zealand go down here SIX
19.5 4 Gardner to Martin full on off, drilled past mid-off for four but that’s little consolation for New Zealand who will be knocked out FOUR
19.4 2 Gardner to Martin and they won’t have it, full toss on middle, swung away to deep midwicket for just two 2 runs
19.3 1 Gardner to Kasperek full toss on middle, only manages to get away to long-on for one. New Zealand need 3 sixes 1 run
19.2 1 Gardner to Martin full and outside off, swung away to deep square leg for just one 1 run

Damien: “Wow proud of ya girls. I am enjoying this game at Junction Oval with a beer and cricinfo in my hands. Bring on the Semi finals :)”

19.1 1 Gardner to Kasperek full on middle and leg, she picks out fine-leg on the bounce for just one 1 run

Gardner has 19 to play with. Perry is off the field so Australia don’t have a choice. 11 came from her first

End of Over No.19 New Zealand Women 136/7 Last Over (8 runs)
18.6 1 Schutt to Kasperek it’s full and angled in, she skips down and can’t work it leg side, the deflection off the pad gives her one, and New Zealand need an unlikely 20 from the last over 1 leg bye

New Zealand need a six here

18.5 1 Schutt to Martin length on top of off, skids on as she chops it away towards point for one 1 run
18.4 4 Schutt to Martin length outside off, Martin makes room and goes through the off side, pierces the cover field, beats mid-off to her left for four FOUR
18.3 1 Schutt to Kasperek length outside off, she falls over after shuffling to get this over short fine, gets only a thick inside edge, too square and only one 1 run
18.2 W Schutt to Peterson Megan Schutt has her third! It was another slower one on a length, she was through the swing to the leg side too early, missed it completely to be bowled comprehensively OUT
AM Peterson b Schutt 9 (5b 1×4 0x6) SR: 180.00
18.1 1 Schutt to Martin length on off and middle, she shuffles and picks this up to deep backward square leg’s right for a couple 1 run
End of Over No.18 New Zealand Women 128/6 Last Over (12 runs)
17.6 2 Jonassen to Peterson full on middle and leg, whipped away towards deep midwicket and because it wasn’t hit too hard they are able to turn for the second. Umpires check for the run-out at the striker’s end but Peterson made it back easily 2 runs
17.5 4 Jonassen to Peterson fired in on middle and leg again and this one’s picked up with the angle withy great power, one bounce and into the deep square leg fence FOUR
17.4 2 Jonassen to Peterson length on middle and leg, swung away towards deep square leg for a couple 2 runs
17.3 1 Jonassen to Martin 1 run
17.3 1 Jonassen to Martin missed stumping, tough chance, it was fired down seeing the batter advance, Healy was blinded as she got a glove on it but couldn’t collect cleanly 1 wide
17.2 1 Jonassen to Peterson length outside off, swatted away into the leg side, straight to deep midwicket on the bounce 1 run
17.1 1 Jonassen to Martin full on off, opens the face and pushes it to point 1 run
End of Over No.17 New Zealand Women 116/6 Last Over (7 runs)
16.6 1 Schutt to Martin full on middle, pushed to long-on for one, avoids the hattrick, but can New Zealand avoid defeat from this position? Looking unlikely 1 run

hattrick ball

16.5 W Schutt to Jensen length outside off, she looks to clear mid-off, the right intention but the execution isn’t good enough, mistimes it to id-off, who takes a few steps back to complete a comfortable catch, and Megan Schutt, who had dropped a sitter a few overs back has redeemed herself OUT
HNK Jensen c Carey b Schutt 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00
16.4 W Schutt to Kerr knocks her over and is that the match? Amelia Kerr slogs across the line, the skids on and crashes into middle, and Australia are cock-a-hoop, know exactly how massive that wicket is OUT
AC Kerr b Schutt 2 (4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00
16.3 1 Schutt to Martin full on middle, pushed to long-on 1 run
16.2 4 Schutt to Martin length outside off, she has to reach for it as she has a swing but a fortuitous outside edge sails over short third for four FOUR
16.1 1 Schutt to Kerr length and angled in, picked up towards deep backward square leg 1 run
End of Over No.16 New Zealand Women 109/4 Last Over (6 runs)
15.6 1 Wareham to Kerr length outside off, dabbed to short third for one, and that’s the end of a defining spell from Wareham 1 run
15.5 0 Wareham to Kerr length outside off, attempts to cut and misses no run
15.4 W Wareham to Green Wareham has her revenge! saw her advance and dropped the length short, also pushed it through a little, Green tried to change her shot, initially intending to go big, but to no avail, as she misses it and Healy whips off the bails OUT
ML Green st †Healy b Wareham 28 (23b 2×4 2×6) SR: 121.73
15.3 4 Wareham to Green full toss on off, she shuffles across and flicks this through square leg to bisect the deep fielders FOUR
15.2 0 Wareham to Green goes full on the stumps, the non striker was keen on the single, comes back in time no run
